Iran, also widely known as Persia, is famous for its rich culture, luxurious goods and interesting history. Iranian Studies is a multidisciplinary academic field which is concerned with the culture, language, geography, religion, economy, literature and traditions of Iran, both in the past and in the present. Students in Iranian Studies have the opportunity to learn about Indo-Persian history, philology and heritage, as well as modern Iranian literature, film, music and politics. Iranian Studies degree courses teach many subjects, the most common of which include Old and Middle Iranian Philology, Iranian Religions in History, Introduction to Iranian Linguistics, Iranian History, Persian Translation, Readings in Iranian Islam, Iranian Civilization and more. Students can also discuss more current topics like Contemporary Iranian Culture, Modern Persian Literature and Persian Media.
