Description
Psychology is the study of the human mind and behavior, the connection between feeling and thought as well as conscious and unconscious processes. Its main aim is to understand how certain patterns are formed and how people behave individually and within society. Psychologists observe mental processes and most commonly assess and treat mental health problems. Psychology programs are multidisciplinary and generally include subjects like Social and Developmental Psychology, Psychological Inquiry, Quantitative and Qualitative Methods in Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences, Advanced Theory of Personality, Psychopathology Diagnosis and others. Research is highly encouraged, so students can gain understanding of different topics. A degree course in Psychology provides students with in-depth knowledge of various theories and methods, which they can apply in practice to develop professional skills like excellent communication, problem solving, decision making, the ability to create and follow strategies, apply techniques, gather and assess information and think creatively. Psychology graduates can go on to pursue a number of careers, for example in sectors such as mental health, human rights, conflict resolution, education, public health, business, counseling, and many more.
