Description
Economic and Social Geography is a branch of Geography that deals with economic processes, such as production, location, distribution, consumption and exchange of resources in various conditions, as well as the spatial organization of society. Economic and Social Geography is important, because it provides insight into how an area’s economy is structured, how it interacts with other economies around the world, how society is organized territorially and how its relationship with the environment is established. Studies in Economic and Social Geography typically include subjects like Anthropology, Culture and Development, Environment and Security, Quantitative Urban & Economic Analytics, Urban Social Dynamics, Regional Development, Spatial Economics, Advanced Statistical Analysis, Infrastructure, Economy and Space and more. A degree course in Economic and Social Geography provides students with in-depth theoretical knowledge and understanding of regional differences in economic structure and performance, but also with opportunities for research and work practice where they can develop crucial professional skills, such as an analytical approach, a critical perspective, as well as creative problem solving and strategic planning skills. Graduates of an Economic and Social Geography degree program have the chance to pursue a number of careers, including international human resources manager, community developer, tourism officer, town planner, urban policy developer and others.
