Description
Teacher Education focuses on providing knowledge, insight, policies and skills needed to teach. A Teacher Education degree course gives students professional experience in terms of instructional skills and competence in the field of school education. Programs usually include subjects such as Diversity and Differentiation in the Classroom, Applied Statistics for Education, Grammar, Learning and Teaching, Materials Development, Assessing Language, Contemporary Theories of Learning and Teaching, Instructional Theory and more. Students learn modern and innovative techniques in teaching, teamwork and collaboration, how to apply leadership and management skills in the classroom and how to think critically and assess others. Experience in a real work environment can be obtained through internships, work placements and projects, and understanding of diversity and differentiation in the classroom is also gained. Teacher Education graduates perform teaching-related activities in the educational sector. They have various career prospects – school teacher (elementary and secondary teacher), coach, mentor, educator, advisory teacher, principal, administrator, and lecturers in academia.
