Description
The University of Bayreuth offers the four-semester, English-taught Master’s program “Master of Arts in African Verbal and Visual Arts”, which builds on knowledge relating to the diversity and creativity in languages, literatures, arts, and media in Africa. The interdisciplinary orientation and subject combinations make the programme one-of-a-kind. This course provides theory, methods, and topical areas of emphasis that enable the students to investigate current, research-relevant issues relating to the Humanities and Cultural studies in Africa. Thus, possible career prospects include: academic career at higher education institutions or research institutions, intercultural cooperation and cultural work (such as: the Goethe Institute, foundations/trusts, museums, galleries, libraries), Journalism and public relations, Development cooperation and Private sector employment (with a focus on the African continent). The entry requirements include a bachelor’s degree in African Verbal and Visual Arts (Languages, Literatures, Media and Art), with at least an ex-amination grade of “good’’ or an any equivalent degree, as well as language proficiency: English: level B2+ and German: level A1.
