Description
The University of Bayreuth offers the Bachelor’s degree “Bachelor of Arts in Culture and Society of Africa”, which is aimed at students with a cultural and social science-oriented interest in Africa. The emphasis is put on the study of contemporary societies in Africa. The subjects taught include ethnology, development sociology and development policy. This bachelor’s degree provides the students with in-depth training in methods (empirical social research, methods in development cooperation, ethnological field research), seminars on professional practice and a four-semester training in an African language (Bambara, Hausa, Swahili or Arabic) or an African lingua franca (French or Portuguese). The entry requirements include general or relevant subject-related higher education entrance qualification or professional qualification, as well as language skills: German B2.
