Description
The University of Bayreuth offers the Master's degree “Études Francophones” in Romance languages. The main focus of the master’s degree is the French as a language and as a medium of cultures and literatures in Europe, in francophone countries in Africa (West and Central Africa, Maghreb, Indian Ocean) and America (USA, Canada and the Caribbean). The students will also focus on either linguistics or literary studies and specialize in North American or African Francophonie. Thus, this program is characterized by the following points: structured structure and well-coordinated courses, French as the language of instruction, individual focus on regions (Africa, America), small study groups and individual support, an internship or a semester abroad in the focus region, numerous collaborations with European and non-European universities. The knowledge and skills acquired through the Études Francophones master’s course prepare graduates for a scientific career, for example as part of a structured doctoral program at the University of Bayreuth. The entry requirements include a university degree (or a completed degree) with at least the examination grade "good" (2.5) in the bachelor's degree in culture and society if one of the two subjects is French language, literature and culture and the bachelor thesis is written in French language, literature and culture at the University of Bayreuth or an equivalent degree. Also, linguistic proficiency French: B2; German: A1.
