Description
The Master’s course “Master of Science in Food and Health Sciences” at the University of Bayreuth combines content from food and consumer law, the biology, ecology and biochemistry of food, as well as health economics, business administration and sports science. Also, this interdisciplinary training takes place in three tracks, depending on the legal, economic or scientific background. Thus, the students will complete a compulsory curriculum consisting of food law, epidemiology and biostatistics, food analysis, food production, prevention and health promotion, food supply chain management and nutritional medicine. The food analysis module is intended to provide laboratory experience for all students on the course, regardless of their previous education, whereas they can choose between one of four possible elective areas: Marketing, or Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, or Health Management, or Environment. The graduates will be qualified to work as research, management positions in health management, legal specialization in the food sector, management positions in health insurance companies, as well as management positions in the food industry, in politics, media, offices in ministries and health care. The entry requirements include a university degree (or a completed degree) with at least the examination grade “good” (2.5) in one of the following bachelor's degree programs at the University of Bayreuth (biology, biochemistry, business administration, economics, health economics, sports economics) or an equivalent degree, as well as language skills: German: C1.
