Description
The Master’s degree “Master of Science in Geoecology – Environmental Sciences” at the University of Bayreuth focuses mainly on the environmental sciences. This course offers the students the opportunity to specialize in three areas, such as: the field of environmental physics is offered by the working groups of soil physics, hydrogeology, hydrology, micrometeorology and ecological modelling. The individuals, who make the decision to specialize in biogeochemistry are supervised by lecturers from agroecology, atmospheric chemistry, soil ecology, hydrology and environmental geochemistry. Thus, the biogeography, biogeographical modelling, fault ecology, geomorphology, climatology, ecological modelling, ecological services, hydrogeology and agro-ecosystem research contribute to the specialization in landscape ecology. The graduates have variety of career prospects and are qualified for many activities, depending on their individual interests and focus of the degree. These areas include research in universities and non-university institutes, teaching and training at universities and further training institutions, functions in national and international authorities and organizations with environmental relevance, political advice on questions of environmental and nature conservation, as well as advisory tasks in consulting and planning offices and ecological risk analyses for industry authorities. The entry requirements include a university degree (or a completed degree) with at least the test grade “good” (2.0) in the bachelor's degree in Geoecology at the University of Bayreuth or an equivalent degree, as well as linguistic proficiency German: B2.
