The Master’s degree “Master of Arts in Literature and Media” include a wide range of courses that are clearly based on cultural studies. Students can make a choice between the range of media studies and various literary and cultural studies such as German, English, American, Études Francophones and Africa-oriented studies, as well as people can specialize in certain fields of the cultural sector and cultural mediation. Thus, the interdisciplinary course combines literature and media studies in a new way and thus takes into account the constantly growing importance of the media in the cultural sector. This course also provides many career paths for graduates, such as work in publishing and librarianship, journalism in web and print media, film, TV and radio, festivals, archives, documentation centers and museums, as well as state and municipal educational and cultural institutions, cultural departments and adult education in the cultural sector. The entry requirements include a university degree (or completed degree) in a literature and / or media studies bachelor's degree at the University of Bayreuth (BA English / American Studies, BA German Studies, BA African Languages, Literatures and Art, BA African Verbal and Visual Arts (Languages, Literatures, Media and Art), BA Media Studies and Media Practice, BA Theater and Media with a grade of at least “good” (2.5) or an equivalent degree, as well as linguistic proficiency German: C1.
