The University of Bayreuth offers the Master's degree “Master of Science in Materials Science and Materials Engineering”, which is aimed at students who want to further their knowledge in-depth engineering education, as well as for those who have a keen interest in material science issues and who are aiming for a responsible position in companies, research institutes or universities. Therefore, a material science specialization takes place through the occupation of three of the offered focus areas of construction materials, materials for energy engineering, high temperature materials, metals and polymers. This course also provides its student with different career paths, due to the research-oriented and industry-related trainings, and people are demanding jobs in companies, research institutes and universities. Typical fields of application are product and process development, research and development-related sales. The entry requirements include a university degree (or a completed degree) in the bachelor's degree in materials science and engineering at the University of Bayreuth or an equivalent degree. Also, the university requires a proof of an industrial internship of at least thirteen weeks, which must be proven within one year of enrolment, details of the content and evidence of the industrial internship are regulated by the internship regulations of the Faculty of Engineering, as well as language skills German: DSH-2.
