Description
The University of Bayreuth provides its students with the Master’s degree “Master of Science in Mathematics”, due to the fact that recently the research and development departments of many companies, as well as universities and other teaching and research institutions are looking for highly trained mathematicians who not only master known techniques and support them mathematically, but also help prepare future innovations. The Master’s course is built on the bachelor's degree in mathematics, and offers the students the skills to develop and implement new mathematical methods and applications. Throughout this course students will learn independent, scientifically-oriented study of mathematics within the framework of an unbureaucratic and self-determined study organization. Also, due to the in-depth and specialization lectures, seminars, as well as the master's thesis, individuals will expand and deepen mathematical skills and set their own focus of studies within the framework of the mathematical research areas represented in Bayreuth. Thus, the demand for doctoral students with a scientifically oriented master’s degree in mathematics is very high both in application-oriented, scientific cooperation projects with industrial companies and in the area of basic research projects at universities nationwide and internationally. The entry requirements include a degree in mathematics at the University of Bayreuth or an equivalent qualification, as well as linguistic proficiency German: B2.
