Description
The program “Master of Science in Teaching in the STEM fields PLUS” is aimed at students desire to be teachers at grammar schools with at least one of the subjects: biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics or physics. The range of courses includes options for specialization in five module areas: Specialist specialization with modules from specialist master’s courses at the University of Bayreuth, Didactic specialization beyond the regular teacher training course, International, interdisciplinary research in flexibly organized, small groups (also with the option of studying and researching stays with external partners), Key competencies that are specific to education and science, Master thesis for scientific consolidation. Future graduates will be able to penetrate current research areas in order to follow up on a doctorate and a professional career in the scientific field. Thus, the graduates of the elite program with their above-average professional qualifications and their sensitization to processes of gifted development are ideally prepared to specifically promote particularly gifted students as teachers at grammar schools (with competitions like "Jugend forscht"). The entry requirements include a university degree (or a completed degree) with an examination grade of 1.9 or better in the teaching post-related bachelor's degree at the University of Bayreuth, with at least one of the subjects: biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics or physics for teaching at grammar schools or an equivalent qualification, as well as linguistic proficiency - German: DSH-2.
