The students of the master's degree “Master of Arts in Music and Performance” have the opportunity to deal in a special way with questions of music and its performativity, as well as to shape innovative paths in music theatre research and later to take on a responsible position. The main focus of this program is to examine the interaction between music and performance from a wide variety of perspectives. Both general aspects of artistic and cultural expressions and performance art in the narrower sense are covered. Thus, the course covers a wide range of topics: music theatre in its full range (opera, operetta, musical, dance, revue, cabaret), music and theatricality (concerts, street music culture and pageants), music and audio-visual media such as film and television. The entry requirements include a university degree in the bachelor's degree in music theatre studies or in the bachelor's degree in theatre and media at the University of Bayreuth or an equivalent degree, as well as linguistic proficiency German: B2.
