The University of Bonn offers the six-semester degree program “Teaching Bachelor: Catholic Religious Education”. It is geared toward providing applicants with theological and philosophical fundamentals. There are four four theological subject groups available (Biblical, Historical, Systematic and Practical Theology). Students will become familiar with the study of the belief in terms of historical and social aspect, the essence of ecumenism and a dialogue with other religions. A study of theological texts, requires knowledge of ancient languages, such as Latin, Greek and Hebrew. This particular program demand a second teaching subject and the subject of educational sciences. Future job opportunities are in numerous areas, like at research institutions, hospitals, in journalism, pastoral work and teaching science.
