The University of Bonn offers the teacher education program “Bachelor Lehramt: Italienisch”, which has a duration of six semesters and is held in both German and Italian. Throughout the curriculum, students will obtain in-depth knowledge about special traits, culture, literature and linguistics of the Italian language. Participants will become highly competent about phonology, word formation, syntax and notions of sub-disciplines of linguistics. In the field of Literary studies, the focal points are the history of the literature, as well as schemes and processes of literary research. Methods, types, theories of different cultures and the specific for the country knowledge are explored within the area of Cultural studies. Two subjects are required to be studied for teaching at grammar and comprehensive schools, therefore a second subject is taken. Career opportunities are at educational institutes, administration, research institutes, diplomatic service, libraries and international organizations.
