The University of Education Weingarten, founded in 1949, is a public university seated in Weingarten, Baden-Wuerttemberg. It has the right to confer doctoral and post-doctoral degrees. The University currently provides more than 3,500 students with study programs related and unrelated to teaching. The teaching-related study programs prepare for teaching activities at primary schools, secondary and higher secondary schools, as well as vocational schools. The scope of studies unrelated to teaching includes the Bachelor degree courses “Physical Activity and Nutrition“, “Elementary Education“, “Learning Support“, “Speech Therapy“, “Media and Education Management“, “Multilingualism and Intercultural Education“, and “Environmental Education“, as well as the Master degree courses “Literacy and Basic Education“, “German as a Foreign Language and Intercultural Education“, “Early Childhood Studies“, “Educational Science“, “Intercultural Education/Cultural Mediation“, “Media and Education Management“, “Music – Movement – Language“, and “School Development“. The educational portfolio is added by the teacher education supplementary study courses “Alevi Religious Education“, “Counselling“, “German as a Second/Foreign Language“, “Intercultural Education“, and “Islamic Theology/Religious Education“, as well as by certified postgraduate studies.
