The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Art” offered by University of Erfurt provides a thorough education in three main fields – artistic practice, art history, art education and mediation. The emphasize on these particular art areas allows for the testing, analysis, and communication of artistic modes of vision, thought, and language from various angles. In the classes in artistic practice students gain creativity and then create their own concepts and approaches and incorporate them using various artistic tools. The art history part consists of classes, in which art theory and all period of art through the ages are addressed. The classes in art education and mediation shed light into the relations between art and education. The experimental method is promoted in this field, as well as discussions about the connection between art and culture are initiated. Graduates of the program can either work as teachers in art education at primary and public schools (but first they should do a master of education) or in social and cultural fields.
