The four-semester study program “Master of Arts in Children`s and Youth Media Studies” offered by University of Erfurt provides students with comprehensive knowledge at the intersection of media education, engagement and science. Throughout the course of study, participants gain understanding in various fields, such as media and communication science, pedagogy, psychology and etc. The curriculum highlights four focal points of study: children and young people`s media, both traditional and new, processes of media-mediated communication design and interpretation, observation and research on the role of media in the lives of teenagers, and adolescents’ media awareness and its development. The program allows for in-depth understanding of the connection that exists between the children and adolescence`s world and the social conditions formed by media and communication networks. Graduates of the program can build career in many areas, such as media pedagogical consulting, political consulting, media research, and etc.
