The certificate program “Philosophy” offered by University of Erfurt provides students with minor subject Philosophy, in which classes they address certain philosophical issues with lecturers and other fellow students. In order to lay down the foundations of their own reflections, students read and analyse contemporary and classical texts by the greatest philosophers such as Plato, Kant, and Wittgenstein. Furthermore, students gain knowledge in the fields of history of philosophy, theoretical philosophy, practical philosophy, and other relevant subjects. One option for graduates of the program is to teach ethics in primary, regular or vocational schools, but in order to be eligible to teach they need to do a Master degree of Education. Other options are available for them as well, such as working with fields of media and journalism, science and research, in cultural and educational institutions, and etc.
