The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Primary and Elementary Education” offered by University of Erfurt provides students with knowledge about the educational, sociocultural, and mental roots of childhood, which should be comprehended fully. This knowledge will help participants grasp children’s teaching and learning processes throughout the change from pre-school to elementary school as well as in elementary school. During the program, students will learn technical principles for children`s educational and upbringing phases. Moreover, they will be taught all about child growth as well as essential pedagogical values. The course of study offers two options for the prospective students. The first is “Primary School”, in which the emphasize is put on the primary school subjects – German, mathematics, and local history and geography. The other option is “Pre-school and extra-curricular education”, which make students ready for working in the areas of pre-school and extracurricular education, teaching them world knowledge, language and other relevant subjects. Graduates of the program work as teachers, or in leisure and media facilities, theatre, and etc.
