The certificate program “Romance Studies” offered by University of Erfurt provides a comprehensive language training in French or Spanish, as well basic understanding of one more Romance language. The curriculum is compound of four main areas – Literary Studies, Linguistics, Language practice, and Culture and Regional studies. During the classes in literary studies, students learn Romance literature in various contexts, whereas in linguistics, participants are taught Romance languages` structures and functions. Throughout the Language practice part, they excel their written and oral skills. Students learn about the geographical, political, economic and cultural problem that affect France, Spain, francophone and hispanophone countries in their Cultural and Regional Studies courses. Graduates of the program have various professional options. They can either teach French at school, or work in the fields of intercultural communication, public relations, tourism and etc.
