The state examination program “Dentistry” is offered by University of Erlangen-Nuremberg with a standard length of 11 semesters. The basic medical and dental knowledge about body functions is imparted in the first 4 semesters, whereas the clinical study section is divided into two parts. Between the 7th and 10th semester, participants train in clinics. Furthermore, the course includes a first aid course, a one-month nursing service and a four-week clinical traineeship. In addition, the state examinations are held after the 4th, 6th and 10th semesters.
