The teaching degree program “History (Teaching at Middle Schools)” is offered by University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. It amounts to 7 semesters. In the first phase of the program, students receive a basic education in the working techniques, tools and methods of historical science. Moreover, they gain orientational knowledge and skills.  In addition, participants are given an opportunity to focus on a specific content of their studies and to select two epochal or regional focal points of their own choice. Students can choose between ancient history, medieval history, history of the early modern period and contemporary history. With the advanced skills gained, they are prepared for an independent scientific work in the field of history.
