Description
The degree program “Master of Arts in Transformational Studies” at the University of Flensburg covers four semesters. Focal points are examinations of causes and consequences of socio-ecological problems such as anthropogenic climate change, the loss of biodiversity, and resource scarcity and environmental pollution. Participants become familiar with current environmental and sustainability crisises in a global aspect. In this study course, students will analyze and reflect on the possibilities and limits of shaping social transformations, based on the principles of sustainability. Moreover, applicants will be capable of defining what enables, enhance or inhibits operations of social change. This particular program delivers not only scientific theories and insights, but also encourages creative thought and action. Some important topics throughout the syllabus are: Sociology, Ecology, Economics, Geography, Philosophy, German Studies, Art, Educational Sciences, Media Studies, which makes the program interdisciplinary.
