The University of Freiburg is a public university seated in Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Founded by Albert VI in 1457, it ranks among the oldest universities in Germany. It accomodates more than 25,000 in 257 study courses. The University of Freiburg is divided into eleven faculties: the Faculty of Biology, the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, the Faculty of Philology, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Theology, the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Faculty of Economics and Behavioral Science. Being an internationally oriented university, the University of Freiburg offers a number of English-language study courses. They include the Bachelor degree courses “Liberal Arts and Sciences“, and the Master degree courses “Applied Physics“, “British and North American Cultural Studies“, “Computer Science“, “Economics“, “English Language and Linguistics“, “English Literatures and Literary Theory“, “Environmental Governance“, “Environmental Sciences“, “Forest Sciences“, “Geology“, “Global Studies“, “Microsystems Engineering“, “Modern China Studies“, “Neuroscience“, “Physics“, Renewable Energy Engineering and Management“, and “Sustainable Systems Engineering“. The following degrees can be obtained: B.A., B.Sc., Ecclesiastical Examination, Mag.theol., M.A., M.Sc., LL.M., MBA, and State Examination.
