The “Master of Science in Psychology with a focus on clinical psychology and psychotherapy” program at Justus Liebig University Giessen has a length of 4 academic semesters. The course provides in-depth methodological and scientific knowledge, as well as theoretical knowledge and psychotherapeutic and professional skills, taking into account patient safety and patient rights. Subjects that are part of the course curriculum are Research methods in psychology, Psychological diagnostics, Biological aspects of mental illness, Applied Psychotherapy and others. Candidates are required to demonstrate evidence of a relevant subject with a standard period of study of at least 6 semesters with a Bachelor of Science. Graduates acquire the license to practice medicine and are able to pursue further training as a psychotherapist.
