The degree program “Bachelor of Arts in Finnish Studies” at University of Greifswald provides a full-time study course with a duration of six semesters. It is taught in both German and Finnish. This study course focuses on the science of the Finnish language, literature and culture. Throughout their studies participants will learn in-depth Finnish language skills, independently identifying problems in literally history and linguistics, analysing the problems with scientific methods and propose innovative solutions. Some modules that this program covers are Finnish language and culture, Finnish area studies, topics and Finnish literature and culture, supervised reading, Scandinavian crime fiction, folk narrative, Finnish popular culture and many more. After successfully completing their study graduates will be qualified to work as editors in publishing houses, librarians or documentalists, cultural managers or journalists and many more.
