The degree program “Bachelor of Arts in Music” at University of Greifswald provides a full-time study course with a duration of six semesters. It is taught in both German and English. The main focus of this course is providing students with the knowledge of music theory and history as well as insight into musical professional fields and artistic skills. Throughout this course participants will learn more about piano, organ, jazz/rock piano and singing, as well as making music in a choir, orchestra or a big band. Some modules covered by the scores are concepts of Ragas and Tala in Indian music, music and literature, vocals and instrumental music, evolution of notation system, appreciation of music and more. After successfully completing this course graduates are qualified to work in fields, such as: instrument museums and cultural offices, music publishing, music organisations, media industry, cultural sector and many more.
