The FernUniversität, established in 1974, is a public distance learning university seated in Hagen, North Rhine-Westphalia. Accomodating almost 76,800 students, it is the largest university in Germany. FernUniversität is split up into four faculties, with each faculty being entitled to confer doctoral and post-doctoral degrees: the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, as well as the Faculty of Law. In addition to conventional Bachelor and Master programs, the University also offers a number of Diploma programs as well as postgraduate continuing education programs at Master’s level. The scope of Diploma studies includes the programs “Electrical Engineering and Information Technology“, “Computer Science“, “Mathematics“, and “Economics and Business Administration“. The continuing education programs comprise the study programs “Environmental Science“, “European Industrial Property Rights“, “Mediation“, “Management“, and “Law of Counsel and Law Practice“. Depending on the respective program, the following degrees can be obtained at FernUniversität: B.A., B.Sc., M.A., M.Sc., LL.M., Dipl.-Ing., Dipl-Inform., Dipl-Math., Dipl-Kfm., and Dipl.-Volksw. Studying at FernUniversität without higher education entrance qualification is possible for individuals with vocational qualifications.
