The aim of the program is to introduce students to the methods and skills involved in established academic research and to develop their ability to undertake independent research projects within the field of Buddhist and religious studies. Participants will explore the philosophy of life according to Buddhist beliefs as a spiritual mentor and source of spiritual self-reliance, morality and ethics, plus learn the applications of Buddhist philosophy to all aspects of life – family, career, and responsible government and management. The course of studies is designed in a way that gives the participants the option to choose which region they prefer to specialize in – India, Thailand and Tibet, where the teaching language is only English. Other options for China and Japan, where participants may choose to study in English or German, depending on their own preference. Upon graduation from the Master's degree in Buddhist Studies, individuals can find jobs in museums and libraries or to build a career in the field of project management of developmental aid organizations, where they can apply the skills and knowledge gained of the Buddhist religion.
