Description
The state examination program “Dentistry” at the University of Hamburg aims to provide students with the education required to practice dentistry within preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, medical opinion, and monitoring care in accordance with the bill on the qualifications to practice the dentistry profession in healthcare. The course of studies consists of two periods – preclinical and clinical – each with a duration of five semesters. It provides students with skills required for all the activities and interventions within prevention, diagnostics, and treatment of anomalies and diseases of the teeth, gums, jaws, and surrounding tissues. Participants are also given the necessary qualifications that allow them to practice in accordance with legal regulations and the requirements of neontology. After successfully passing the state examination, graduates have the chance to practice dentistry as autonomous professionals, start training to earn professional qualifications in the individual dentistry specializations, start training in orthodontics, or work at university dentistry clinics.
