University of Hamburg offers the four-semester degree program "Master of Arts in General Linguistics’’. The course is specifically designed for students who wish to advance their knowledge of human languages, and namely their characteristics, development, and social practice. Furthermore, by enrolling in this course participants will also strengthen their abilities to analyze and critically assess the functions and theoretical concepts of the linguistic phenomena. This program allows students to choose their individual focus by selecting one out of three subject profiles: Language Typology, Use of Language or Speech Perception. Graduates with a Master’s degree in General Linguistics will be able to seek career opportunities in academia, as well as in language teaching institutions, press, public relation, publishing houses, editorial offices, and more.
