Description
The degree program “Master of Arts in German Literature” at the University of Hamburg provides students with knowledge of the German literature from the far Middle Ages to the present times. The course of studies explores topics including prose and poetry, film, politics, cultural memory and identity, history, religion as well as the differences between East and West Germany. Students analyze literature texts in their respective cultural, social and aesthetic contexts, based on current media and cultural studies issues. Participants have the opportunity to design your curriculum according to your career goals or interests. You can choose to concentrate on "Older German Literature", "Modern German Literature" or on one of the interdisciplinary research fields "Theater and Media", "Gender and Culture" or "Intercultural Literature and Media Studies". The program serves as preparation either for further academic studies (doctorate) or a professional career in the field of literature. In addition, activities in culture, media, journalism or publishing are conceivable for the graduates of the degree program.
