The study program “Master of Arts in Labor, Economy and Society - Economic and Sociological Studies” at the University of Hamburg is designed as a research-oriented course of studies during which students are able to deepen their knowledge in Sociology and Economics. The social, cultural, institutional and political principles and references to economic action and processes are examined from a social science perspective. Core thematic areas taught are markets, work, culture of economics, as well as the institutional embedding of transnational economic processes. Participants will be qualified to apply the methods of quantitative and qualitative empirical social research as well as of empirical business research in their future careers in the social fields. This includes tasks within strategic consulting, media, international organizations and associations, as well as political consulting. Graduates can also choose positions in public administration as well as in research institutes.
