The degree program “Master of Arts in Languages and Cultures of Southeast-Asia” offered at the University of Hamburg provides students with the opportunity to pursue advanced studies and to deepen their knowledge in the languages, history as well as cultures of Southeast Asia. The course of studies leads to an understanding of one aspect of Southeast-Asian civilization, together with an appreciation of the linguistic and literary culture of the subcontinent. The degree program is designed for highly-motivated students interested in studying Southeast Asia from a comparative and global perspective. The Master's degree program provides its participants with competency in language skills and intercultural awareness and understanding. Apart from taking part in a doctorate degree program in Southeast-Asian studies, graduates of the course of studies are qualified to directly take on jobs in research departments at universities as well as in international organizations.
