The study program “Master of Arts in Performance Studies” at the University of Hamburg combines cultural and social science reflection, artistic practice, choreography, as well as directing. Students will be provided with competences and skills that are important to their professional future. At the same time the course of studies will expand their understanding of theatre and provide knowledge of advanced theories and methods for the in-depth analysis of international contemporary and historical performance practices. Graduates of the degree program can work as choreographers, dancers, or in the production management of artistic projects. After graduation, students will be also qualified for positions in academic or research institutes, as well as cultural organizations requiring specific academic skills in media, art and performance studies. The degree program can also be an excellent starting point for a career in cultural policy and consultancy in the media sector or the art world.
