The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Portuguese” at University of Hamburg is designed to provide students with linguistic skills through a theoretical method-oriented analysis of the Portuguese language. It also covers Portuguese literature from the Middle Ages to the present. Participants will have the options to choose one of two subjects available, namely “Linguistics” or “Literature Studies”. The main goal of the course is for students to learn how to work independently and being able to express themselves in both German and Portuguese. After successfully graduating from the Bachelor's degree program, participants will be qualified for the admission to the Master's degree program as a next step of their academic future. That will help them build their further scientific work in the academic field as well as in research institutions both at home and abroad, depending on their choice. In addition, the course provides access to a wide range of occupations in such areas as adult education, foreign-language teaching in educational centers, journalism, marketing, public relations, public services or administration.
