Description
The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Sociology” at the University of Hamburg is designed to teach students social-scientific methods as well as how to critically analyze social contexts, processes and their interrelations. Participants should be able to apply the acquired knowledge and to specialize in the field. For this purpose, different areas of application will be brought into focus in the specialization phase, such as “Business Economics”, “Environment and Society”, “International Comparative Research”. In addition, the Bachelor's degree program also includes a freely optional minor study program, with which the qualifications from the main course can be meaningfully supplemented. Sociology graduates will have the option to pursue successful careers in social research, as well as in both the public and private sector. Potential employers are social welfare and criminal justice agencies (e.g., the police, probation services, non-governmental organizations supporting homeless people, refugees, and in social research).
