Description
The study program “Master of Arts in Special Needs Education” offered at the University of Hamburg qualifies students to be able to shape participation of people with disabilities in educational processes. The aim of the degree program is for student to become aware of the emotional, mental and social development of pupils, as well as of their physical and motoric progress. They will be prepared to overcome barriers more generally. The course of studies includes dealing with national and international concepts and theories on education under difficult conditions. Participants will be introduced to many consulting methods and be analyzing existing standards at the administrative as well as procedural level. The result should be that students will be able to plan and design concrete methodical interventions on the basis of a diagnosis. Graduates can apply their acquired qualification within the context of a career in counseling centers for people with physical, mental or emotional disabilities. They can also work as pedagogues in day centers and deal with disabled children.
