Description
The four-semester Master of Arts degree program “Systematic and Comparative Musicology’’ is offered at University of Hamburg. It is meant to teach students about the physical, psychological, cultural, social, and biological foundations of music. Furthermore, through empirical-experimental methods, participants explore how the human ear receives and processes sound and acoustics. The degree content comprises of two areas, namely compulsory and profile. In the first one, students take modules in Advanced Musical Acoustics and Advanced Music Psychology. The second area includes modules like Signal Processing, Neuromusicology, Music Theory and Philosophy of Music, Comparative Musicology, and others.
