University of Jena offers the state examination program in “English’’. With a length of nine semesters, this course of study is taught in both German and English. By enrolling in this program, students will explore the fundamental principles of several disciplines, namely English-American literary studies, English linguistics and English subject didactics. Students will not only learn about the literatures and cultures of the English-speaking countries but also of the didactic aspects of teaching English. This is achieved through intensive training with modules such as Theory, Genres, Literary History: Reading Course, Grammar, Academic Writing, and more.
