University of Jena provides the six-semester degree program “Bachelor of Arts in Slavic Studies – South Slavic Studies’’. Prospective students will acquire basic knowledge and skills of the language, literature as well as culture of Slavic countries. A strong emphasis is placed on South Slavic Studies, which is why participants are given the opportunity to choose between Bulgarian and Serbian/Croatian. Further in their studies Russian is also added as a second language. In addition, the curriculum also features modules in cultural studies along with interdisciplinary issues and methods.
