University of Jena offers the study course “Bachelor of Arts in Slavic Studies - South Slavic Studies“ with a duration of six semesters. The aim is to teach participants the history, language, literature and culture of the South Slavic countries. Students entering this program have the chance to choose between two languages: Bulgarian and Serbian/Croatian. Content of study includes theoretical lectures such as Bulgarian Literature, Linguistics Bulgarian, Literary Studies Serbian/Croatian, South Slavic Cultural Studies, South Slavic Linguistics. In addition, those who would like to improve their language skills and knowledge can take part in an internship program abroad. Career prospects for graduates are in institutions and organizations, publishing industry, in tourism, translation agencies and others.
