University of Jena offers the study course “Bachelor of Arts in Speech Science and Phonetics” with a duration of six semesters. The aim is to provide participants with solid knowledge of all areas of spoken language and oral communication. By entering in the course, students have the chance to gain skills in phonetics, phonology, rhetoric and aesthetic communication. Some of the main subjects includes General Phonetics, Theoretical and Practical Phonology, Speech Formation, Fundamentals of Speech, Experimental Phonetics, where will also learn how to analyze and evaluates communication processes in professional manner. Graduates have wide range of career opportunities, for example in electronic media, as a professional speaker and speechwriter, or in foreign language teaching.
