Description
The “Master of Arts in Art History” is a 4-semester program taught in German. It is a continuation of the corresponding Bachelor’s degree offered at the University of Leipzig. The course is also available as a part-time study. The focal point of the program is to deepen the knowledge of students and familiarise them with more complex content. Students will focus on expressions and fields of activities in art from the Middle Ages to modern times. They’ll acquire industry-specific knowledge and learn how to analyze processes of reception, function, and contextualization of fine arts and architecture, expression of cultural identity and transfer, research communicative aspects of the origin of meaning through artefacts, etc. Participants can also choose from a plethora of elective modules and select a focus area later in their education. The MA prepares graduates for work in Museums, Galleries, Art trade and Education, Curating, Cultural Management and Promotion, Monument Preservation, Journalism, etc.
