The program “Master of Education Extension Subject for Teacher Education Gymnasium” offered by the University of Mannheim aims at students of the degree program the opportunity for studying a third subject. The add-on subject can be studied side by side to the Bachelor of Education in Teacher Education Gymnasium and the Master of Education in Teacher Education Gymnasium. The program is split into two main parts: basics and specialization in the chosen subject science, as well as didactics. It provides students with thorough knowledge in the respective subject and thus the needed competence to teach at all grade levels. Participant can select from the following subjects: German, English, French, History, Computer Science, Italian, Mathematics, Philosophy/Ethics, Political Science, Spanish, and Economics. Graduates have acquired qualification for a third subject and that makes their job opportunities better.
