The interdisciplinary program “Master of Arts in Language and Communication” offered by the University of Mannheim is subsequent course of study after a Bachelor´s degree in Linguistics. The focus of the program is set on a three-semester project module, during which students work on separate research projects in collision with their supervisors. Students expand their knowledge in advanced modules on linguistic methodology, linguistic theories, language acquisition and multilingualism research and interaction and text. Participant can select courses based on their personal interests. Another opportunity is to put an emphasize on a certain linguistic area, this can be done through attending most of the courses in English and American Studies, German Studies or Romance Studies. Moreover, students can choose specializations subjects, so as to develop their interdisciplinary skills in the areas of media and communication studies, psychology, and etc. The program gives the students a comprehensive preparation for pursuing an academic career. Graduates can also choose to work in corporate communications, market and opinion research, PR, marketing, consulting and etc.
