Through the program “Master of Science in Psychology with A Focus on Cognitive and Clinical Psychology” offered by the University of Mannheim students expand their knowledge in the areas of clinical psychology, psychopathology, and psychotherapy. They will learn how to prepare, conduct an interpret psychological studies in the framework of the program. As the program is oriented towards applied clinical psychotherapy, students take up practical classes in clinical interviewing and other intervention techniques. Essential part of the course of studies is the preparation for the Master`s thesis. Students will take part of ongoing research projects in the fields of Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy Research, Cognitive Psychology, Neuropsychology, Clinical Assessment, or Health Psychology. The Master`s thesis qualifies graduates to identify, treat and relieve the symptoms of mental illnesses using clinically based psychotherapeutic techniques, allowing them to begin advanced training as a psychotherapist.
