The degree “Bachelor of Education in Teacher Education Gymnasium: German`` offered by the University of Mannheim focuses on two main subject areas: “German” and ``Education Sciences and Teaching Methodology``. Through the modules in German students gain knowledge about German literature, both classic and modern, and linguistics. A lot of books are read and then analysed. In the linguistic classes, participants teach all about the language, its functions, developments, and linguistic features. Teaching Methodology classes provide comprehensive preparation on various methods to teach pupils at school. Via interdisciplinary classes, students are helped to cope up with the challenges that come when teaching multicultural groups. The fundamental scientific concepts behind teaching and learning are covered in Education Sciences classes, which are supplemented by practical experiences during the first tutoring sessions. If graduates want to pursue teacher job, they should firstly complete the Master of Education. Optionally, Master in literary or linguistic area can qualify graduates for a career as journalist or editor.
